One Shell Square Miri (OSSM) is the new home of Shell Malaysia Upstream, a 13-storey corporate tower where hundreds of staff run bandwidth-intensive work every hour. Modern buildings, with their coated glass and dense structure, routinely weaken the outdoor mobile signal indoors. For a headquarters, that is not a nuisance, it is a productivity problem: dropped calls, slow uploads and dead zones in the exact spaces where reliable connectivity matters most.
As Demanlink's first site in Sarawak, OSSM set the template. We designed and deployed an in-building coverage (IBC) solution with 109 5G-ready antennas distributed across all 13 storeys, prioritising the high-traffic floors and common spaces. Radio equipment sits in the building's equipment room; feeder systems and ceiling-mounted antennas propagate the signal floor by floor. Because Demanlink owns and operates the infrastructure, the operator gained dense indoor coverage without the capital cost of building it themselves.
Demanlink launched operations in Sarawak on 16 October 2024. Roughly a month later, OSSM was live, comprehensive 5G-ready coverage across the entire building, enabling faster connections and higher capacity for every tenant and visitor. It became the proof point for Demanlink's in-building model and the opening move in an aggressive IBC drive now reaching BCCK, Menara LCDA, SEB HQ and commercial malls across Kuching, Sibu and Bintulu.
Nine shared structures across five Sarawak divisions, opening capacity for multiple operators through 2026.
